We study mechanisms underlying biodiversity and at the same time recognize the value and richness of working together as a group of diverse humans, each with our own backgrounds, ideas and cultures. We encourage individuals of all genders, gender identities or expression, races, cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations or socio-economic status, to contact us about joining. We provide an inclusive, supportive environment and are always looking for new members of our team!
Prospective Undergraduate Researchers
Undergraduate students interested in doing research are always welcome in our lab. We require a serious commitment to research, which includes at least one summer of full time research. Our students may participate in the Biology, CBMG, or Entomology Honor’s programs. Exceptional students have co-authored publications and have been supported to present their work at national scientific meetings.
Prospective Graduate Students
Prospective graduate students may apply to our lab via the University of Maryland Biological Sciences Graduate Program (BISI). Most of our students are part of the Molecular & Cell Biology Graduate Program (MOCB), but we also consider students applying through the Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics (BEES) or Entomology (ENTM) graduate programs.
Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers
Prospective postdoctoral applicants should contact Leslie directly by emailing lpick (at) umd (dot) edu.
